Clemson Men’s Track And Field Sets 33 Season-Best Marks At Nebraska Adidas Classic

LINCOLN, NE – The Clemson men’s track and field team completed competition at the Nebraska Adidas Track Classic this weekend, setting 33 season-best marks. The Tigers were led by Roy Cheney, Tye Hill and Jacey Harper, who each turned in top-three performances at the Devaney Sports Center.

In the 60m dash, Hill finished second with a time of 6.80. Harper placed third, clocking a season-best time of 6.84, while Airese Currie was fifth with a season-best time of 6.86. Ronald Richards clocked a season-best time of 22.07, followed by Robert Ibeh (22.14), Currie (22.15) and Grafton Ifill (22.31). Michael Bolling’s time of 48.43 in the 400m placed him fifth in the field, followed by six other Tigers who posted season-best times in the event. Marcus Hodge improved his season-best time in the 800m to 1:52.85, while Derrick Wyatt and Scott Shaw also posted season-best times of 1:56.54 and 1:57.48, respectively. In the mile run, Scott Shaw turned in a season-best performance of 4:12.58 to finish 10th, while Mike Barton, Derrick Wyatt and David Adams also posted season-best times. Jason Meany was sixth in the 3000m, clocking a time of 8:27.46. Ryan Fenton placed 11th in 8:37.11, and Matt Pimentel completed the race in 8:53.93. The Tigers’ distance medley relay team of Barton, Rick Hill, Garrick Copes and Adams placed fourth with a time of 10:28.67. In the 4x400m relay, Clemson’s top team of Harper, Bolling, Eure and Gardner recorded a season-best time of 3:15.13, placing fourth.

George Kitchens placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 23’4.75″. Derek Gilson recorded a mark of 47’11.75″ in the shot put, while Ryan Hunter and Andrew Kessler cleared 14’11” in the pole vault.

The Tigers return to action on Feb. 15, as the team travels to Blacksburg, VA, to compete in the Virginia Tech Challenge.
