CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s tennis team will travel to Virginia and Maryland this weekend to conclude regular season play. The Tigers will face Virginia on Friday at 5:00 p.m and then play Maryland on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Tigers are 20-9 overall and 4-2 in ACC play, after downing Georgia Tech 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Clemson swept all six single matches to capture the victory over Georgia Tech. Clemson has posted conference wins over Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State and North Carolina. The Tigers 20-9 record marks Head Coach Chuck Kriese’s 16th 20-win season, and is the first 20-win mark since the 1999 season when Clemson finished the year 21-12.
Clemson holds a 41-8 all-time advantage over the Cavaliers and are 17-6 in Charlottesville. The two teams last met in 2002, as Clemson swept Virginia 7-0. The Cavaliers are 20-5 on the season and 4-2 in ACC play, after falling to North Carolina by a score of 4-3.
The Tigers are 36-13 all-time against Maryland and 16-6 in College Park. Clemson and Maryland last met on the court in 2002, as the Tigers posted a 7-0 win over the Terrapins at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Maryland is 10-9 overall and 0-5 in the ACC, after defeating Mount St. Mary’s 7-0 on Wednesday.
