Clemson Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision to South Alabama

Mobile, AL — The 26th-ranked Clemson Men’s Tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 47 South Alabama on Saturday afternoon. Clemson will return to action later Saturday evening to face Southern.

The match began as South Alabama earned the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. Fero Babej and David Kepka defeated Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins 8-6 at the number one doubles match. Clement Reix topped Jorgen Vestli and Pavel Mazaev 8-3 at flight three to pull even. South Alabama clinched the doubles point as Clinton Jacobs and Evan Fowler earned an 8-5 victory over Goran Sterijovski and Ryan Young.

In singles action, Babej was able to down Thompson 6-2, 6-2 at the number one position. Sterijovski beat Mazaev 6-1, 6-3 at flight two. South Alabama’s Jacobs defeated Jenkins 6-2, 7-5 at number three singles. Ryan Young 6-4, 6-1 at the number six singles match.

With the loss, Clemson falls to 13-4 on the season. The Tigers are back in action later Saturday evening when they face Southern.
