Clemson Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision To San Diego State

SEATTLE, WA – The #37 Clemson men’s tennis team fell to #33 San Diego State on the final day of the Great Northwest Shootout in Seattle, WA. The Tigers fall to 6-4 overall, while the Aztecs improve to 2-2 on the season.

In singles action, Clemson’s Nathan Thompson posted a three-set victory (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) over 13th-ranked Oliver Maiberger at number one singles. Sander Koning defeated Ryan Redondo at number two singles, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. At flight three singles, Micah Thompson dropped a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 decision to Felix Hardt. Damiisa Robinison fell to San Diego State’s Daniel Jung 6-3, 6-3 at number four singles. At flight five singles, Clemson’s Ash Misquith fell to Gabe Coren at number six singles, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play against San Diego State, the Tigers’ Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins fell to 6th ranked Maiberger and Redondo at number one singles. Clemson’s duo of Robinson and Misquith posted an 8-5 win over Hardt and Carrascosa at flight two doubles. At number three doubles, Koning and Boetsch downed Jung and Coren by a score of 8-3.

The Tigers return to action on Feb. 21 as they play host to the Clemson Spring Classic at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
