Clemson Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision To Duke On Sunday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Duke on Sunday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Blue Devils improve to 12-5 on the season and 4-0 in the ACC, while the Tigers fall to 19-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

In singles play, Sander Koning posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Phillip King at number one singles, while Nathan Thompson fell to Michael Yani at number two singles by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. At number three singles, Jarmaine Jenkins defeated Jason Zimmerman, 6-3, 6-4. Damiisa Robinson lost a three-set match (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) to Ludovic Walter at number four singles. Ash Misquith defeated Peter Shults by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

The Blue Devils won at number one and three doubles to win the team doubles point. At number one doubles, Nathan Thompson and Jenkins lost to King and Yani by a score of 8-2. Robinson and Boetsch posted an 8-5 win over Zimmermann and Walter at flight two doubles. The Tigers’ duo of Koning and Brett Twente fell to Stokke and Shults at number three doubles by a score of 8-4.

The Tigers will return to action on Friday, Apr. 4, as they travel to Winston-Salem, NC to take on Wake Forest.
