CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s tennis team downed Georgia Tech 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 20-9 overall and 4-2 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 12-7 and 3-4 in conference play.
In singles action, Nathan Thompson defeated Roger Anderson in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 6-3) at number one singles. At flight two singles, Sander Koning won a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 decision over Scott Schnugg. Jarmaine Jenkins downed Joao Menano at number three singles by a score of 6-3, 6-3, while Damiisa Robinson won a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Trevor McLeod at flight five singles, and Ash Misquith defeated Marko Rajevac at number six singles by a score of 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (10-6).
In doubles play, the Yellow Jackets won at the number one and three positions to earn the doubles point. Nathan Thompson and Jenkins fell to Georgia Tech’s Anderson and Schnugg 8-4 at flight one doubles. Robinson and Boetsch were victorious over Menano and Rajevac at number two doubles, 8-6. At number three doubles, Koning and Brett Twente dropped a 9-7 decision against McLeod and Nott.
The Tigers will return to action this weekend as they travel to Virginia and Maryland to conclude regular season play.
