Clemson Men’s Tennis Downs Florida State In Semifinals Of ACC Championship

RALEIGH, NC – The Clemson men’s tennis team downed Florida State 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the ACC Championship at Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 24-9 overall this season, while the Seminoles drop to 14-10. Clemson will face Duke in the championship match tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

In doubles action, the Tigers earned the crucial doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead. Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins posted an 8-6 win at number one doubles over Florida State’s Alex Herrera and Romain Jurd. At flight two doubles, Damiisa Robinson and Sander Koning and Brett Twente defeated Chris Westerhof and Jeff Groslimond 8-4 at number three doubles.

In singles play, Nathan Thompson dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Cloer at number one singles. Koning defeated Jurd 6-3, 6-2 at number two singles, while Jenkins won a three set decision (2-6, 7-6, 6-3) over Westerhof at flight three singles. The Tigers’ Boetsch was victorious over Chip Webb at number four singles, 1-6, 6-0, 6-4. At flight five singles, Robinson fell to Florida State’s Groslimond, 6-4, 7-5. Ash Misquith lost a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Laub at number six singles.
