Clemson Men’s Swimming and Diving Ranked 22nd in Latest CSCAA Poll

Jan. 18, 2002

CLEMSON, SC- The Clemson men’s swimming and diving team will enter this weekend’s competition in Atlanta as the 22nd ranked team in the country according to the latest CSCAA poll.

Coach Bruce Marchionda is pleased with the team’s development over the course of this season. “I am very excited about the progress that the men have made this season. We will continue to work hard to keep the momentum as we move through the ACC Championships and potentially the NCAA Championships.”

The Tigers defeated the 17th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels 181-119, in competition at Maurice J. Koury Natatorium in Chapel Hill last weekend. So far this season, Clemson’s only losses in the dual-meet format have come at the hands of nationally ranked opponents.

Other ACC schools in the top-25 include #12 Virginia, and #21 North Carolina. South Carolina is ranked #8 in the latest poll.

The Tigers will be in action tomorrow at Woodruff P.E. Center in Atlanta, as they take on Georgia Teach and Emory in a tri-meet. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
