CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s basketball team will open exhibition play Wednesday when it plays host to the Southeast Atlanta All-Stars at 7:00 PM at the Civic Center of Anderson.
Senior co-captains Edward Scott and Ray Henderson return to lead the Tigers in 2002-03. Last season, Scott was ranked third in the country in assist average with a 7.93 per game figure. The guard from Eastover, SC averaged 11.9 points per game and is the team’s returning leader in points scored. Henderson, a forward/center from Charlotte, NC, averaged 8.1 points per game and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game one year ago. The Tigers also return Chris Hobbs, a native of Chapel Hill, NC, who averaged 11.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game at forward.

The Southeast Atlanta All-Stars have competed against Georgia Tech, Georgia and Furman among others in recent weeks. The All-Stars dropped a 97-59 decision to the Paladins, then fell 108-76 to the Bulldogs. Most recently, the Yellow Jackets defeated the All-Stars 110-73. Adrian Jones led Southeast Atlanta in scoring in two of the games, tallying 16 against Georgia and 18 against Georgia Tech. He added nine points in the Furman game, while Wallace Prather led the All-Stars in the Paladins’ game with 13 points. Gene Williams led the All-Stars on the boards with 12 rebounds against Georgia and eight against Furman, while Melvin Martin pulled down eight rebounds against Georgia Tech.
The Tigers will have one more preseason exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 17 when they play host to the E.A. Sports All-Stars at 7:00 PM. Clemson will open the 2002-03 season Sunday, Nov. 24 as the Tigers play host to Wofford in a 7:00 PM tip.
