Clemson Men’s and Women’s swimming fall to Georgia

Results

Athens, GA – The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming teams lost to Georgia on Wednesday night at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. The men fell by a score of 155-88, while the women’s score was 146-89.

The Clemson men were led by senior Buddy Reed who won the 200 free event with a time of 1:40.77. Reed was also victorius in the 100 free (45.96). Freshman Mark Vahle was victorious in the 50 freestyle as his time of 21.00 was good for first place. Clemson was not able to overcome 10 event victories by Georgia.

The Lady Tigers were paced by junior Kim Routh who won the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.55. Shastain Leathers took top honors in the women’s one-meter diving competition with a final score of 244.72. Ashley Shafer won the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:06.00. Liz Guindon finished second in the 100 breast (1:08.21).

With the loss, both the men’s and women’s teams even their season records at 2-2. The Tigers return to action in an ACC match-up with Virginia next Saturday in Charlottesville.
