Clemson Heads to Yale Intercollegiate

Clemson, S.C.—The Clemson women’s golf  team will compete in its third tournament of the year this weekend.  J.T. Horton’s Tigers will be one of 15 teams competing at the Yale Women’s Intercollegiate at the Yale University Golf Course in New Haven, Conn.

Tournament:  Yale Women’s Intercollegiate

Days of Competition:  October 9-11, 18 holes per day.

Course:  The Course at Yale

Course Stats:  Par 71,  6,008 yards in length

Host School:  Yale

Competing Teams:  Boston University, Long Island University, Boston College, Clemson, Columbia, Furman, Georgetown, Harvard, IUPUI, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, Yale

Additional Notes:  Clemson has finished in the top five in each of its first two tournaments, a fifth-place at the Cougar Classic in Charleston and a tie for fourth at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University….freshman Alice Hewson has won each of her first two tournaments as a Clemson golfer, the first Clemson player to do that, male or female…she was named ACC Player of the Month and National Player of the Month by the Southern Golf Association…Hewson already has each of the top two scores in Clemson history, a 65 at the Cougar Classic an a 67 at the Lady Paladin Invitational….she is ranked fifth in the nation in the latest Golfweek Sagarin rankings….Clemson has a 27-7-1 record against the field so far this year in two events….this is the next to the last tournament of the fall….J.T. Horton’s team will play in the Landfall Tradition at Wilmington, N.C. October 23-25.
