Clemson Freshman Swimmer Honored

IRVINE, CA–Michelle Parkhurst, an incoming freshman swimmer at Clemson, was named Rookie of the Meet at the 2005 Conoco Phillips Summer National Championships at the William J. Wollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, CA.

Parkhurst swims for Machine Aquatic, under Head Coach Christian Doud. The incoming freshman placed sixth in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:03.68.

During the prelims, Parkhurst had a time of 1:03.64 that placed her second going into the finals. Both times are under the Olympic Trial standard of 1;04.59. This was the first time Parkhurst has ever qualified for the Nationals.
