Clemson Falls To No. 4 Duke, 92-42

DURHAM, NC-Sheana Mosch scored 30 points, and Iciss Tillis added 16 in leading the Blue Devils to a 92-42 win over Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball game at Durham, NC Sunday afternoon.

Duke is ranked fourth by the Associated Press and USA Today polls. Clemson is ranked 15th by the Associated Press and 16th by the USA Today poll.

Mosch was 12-12 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line. She also was 2-2 from the three-point range. She also had six assists. Duke outrebounded Clemson 41-22 and Mosch led Duke with 11 rebounds.

The Blue Devils are now 20-1 overall and 8-1 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 15-5 this season, 6-3 in league play. Duke’s only loss this season was a 93-75 loss to Clemson on December 9, at Littlejohn Coliseum. In the first half, Duke took a 23-10 lead with 12:36 left behind the Blue Devils’ Sheana Mosch with 12 points and Iciss Tillis who scored 11. Duke extended their lead scoring 13 unanswered points and had a 36-10 advantage with 7:46 remaining. The Blue Devils took their largest lead of 39 points, (53-14) with 1:19 left.

In the first half, Duke shot 21-35 from the field for a .600 mark, while Clemson was 8-23 from the floor for a .348 pct.

Duke outscored Clemson 15-7 to open the second half and Duke took a 71-26 lead with 12:25 left in the game. Tillis had five points in this Blue Devil run. Duke had their largest lead of the game, 50 points, 92-42 with :46 seconds left in the game as Lanedra Brown scored from underneath.

In the second half, Duke shot 14-27 (.519) and Clemson was 9-26 from the field (.346). For the game, Duke shot 36-62, .565, and Clemson shot 17-49 from the floor for a .347 mark.

Clemson will play host to Maryland on Thursday, February 1, at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson’s next action.
