Clemson improved to 5-0 against the Southern Conference this season with a 3-0 sweep (30-21, 30-17, 30-21) of Wofford on Tuesday in Jervey Gym. The Tigers improved to 13-8, while the Terriers dropped to 6-15 with the loss.
“Tonight we got a good win,” said Jolene Jordan Hoover, Clemson head coach. “Wofford played well defensively. We are excited to get another win in preparation for this weekend’s road trip.”
Leslie Finn added to her team-leading kill total after posting 21 in the victory. She hit .354 and chipped in with 12 digs as well. Lori Ashton led all players with a .517 hitting percentage. She contributed four blocks and 18 kills.
For Wofford, Katie Laser led the attack with 12 kills. Katie Sobczyk hit .455 on 11 errorless attempts. Christal Carey and Andrea Duke had 12 digs apiece.
Ashton had nine kills in game one for Clemson, while Finn contributed seven. In game two, Finn totaled eight kills to lead the Tigers to the easy win. In the third and final game, Clemson opened with a 5-0 run and never looked back. Senior Sarah Gardner had three digs for the Tigers in that game.
The Tigers hit the road this weekend for a pair of ACC matches. Clemson meets North Carolina at 7:00 PM on Friday, then N.C. State at 7:00 PM Saturday. The Tigers split with the two teams earlier this season in Jervey Gym.
