Clemson Doubles Team Advances To Final 16 At National Clay Court Championships

PIKESVILLE, Md. — Clemson doubles team of Damiisa Robinson and Micah Thompson was eleminated in the round of 16 at the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Men’s Tennis Championships at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County late Friday night.

Oskar Johansson and Oggie Kolev of Arkansas defeated Clemson’s duo by a score of 6-2, 6-4. In the first round of the main draw, Robinson and Thompson defeated Adam Carey and Wade Orr of Tennessee 6-4, 6-1.

The main draw consisted of the final 32 doubles team in the tournament.

The T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships is the opening leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ITA Grand Slam Series. The ITA Grand Slam Series also consists of the ITA All-American Championships next month, the Rolex National Indoor Championships in February and NCAA Championships in May.

Robinson and Thompson are not ranked as a doubles team and qualified for the main draw by playing through a qualifying tournament.
