Clemson Defeats NC State, 3-1

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Clemson volleyball team defeated NC State 3-1 (30-25, 29-31, 30-15, 30-21) Friday night in Reynolds Coliseum. The Tigers improve to 15-11 overall and 6-5 in ACC play, while the Wolfpack fall to 3-24 overall and 0-9 in conference play. Clemson extends its winning streak against NC State to 11 straight matches dating back to the 1997 season.

As a team the Tigers hit .286 to the Wolfpack’s .151 hitting percentage. Clemson posted 69 kills and 66 digs, while NC State tallied 57 kills and 59 digs. The Tigers recorded 5.5 team blocks to NC State’s one block.

Five Tigers recorded double-digit kills, including freshman Meghan Stanton who tallied a double-double with a career-high 13 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Lori Ashton posted 15 kills, a .323 hitting percentage and a match-best five blocks, while sophomore Leslie Finn recorded 14 kills, 10 digs and a match-high .353 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ryane Beasley tallied 14 kills, 14 digs and four blocks, and junior Marija Zoric recorded 12 kills. Sophomore Stephanie Haskell led the Tigers in digs with 16. Senior Jessi Betcher dished out a match-high 53 assists and recorded 10 digs, and freshman Carly Hill served up a match-high four service aces.

Adeola Kosoko led the Wolfpack with 15 kills and a .256 hitting percentage. Maya Mapp recorded 15 kills, while Rebecca Anderson tallied 12 kills and 14 digs. Caroline Frede tallied a match-best 16 digs, and Lindi Sheppard handed out 42 assists.

The Tigers will travel to Chapel Hill, NC to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
