CLEMSON, SC – Clemson continued its hot start to the season with a 7-0 win over Navy in the second match of a men’s intercollegiate tennis double-header in Clemson, SC Saturday afternoon.
Colder, windy weather made the conditions less than ideal for outdoor matches, but the Tigers were solid dropping only one set on the day. “Playing in these conditions give us a real taste for the rest of our outdoor matches,” said Clemson assistant coach John Boetsch.
Clemson improved to 10-0 on the season, while Navy dropped to 3-7. Clemson has now tied the 1994 team’s school record for the third best start in school history. The Tigers rested some of their veterans during the afternoon, allowing younger players to gain valuable experience. “These are the days that make us stronger as a team,” assistant coach Anthony Lee said.
Clemson returns to action on Saturday March 6, when they host the University of Central Florida at 2 pm.
