Clemson Cross Country Teams Finish Second at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished second at the 16th Annual Winthrop Invitational at Rock Hill, SC Saturday.

Appalachian State won the men’s race with a total of 38 points, while Clemson was second with 70 points. Furman won the women’s event with 43 points, and Clemson was second with 54 points.

The Clemson men’s team was led by David Adams as he finished second in the Eight Kilometer race. Adams finished the race with a time of 24:56. Mike Baxton was the next highest finisher for the Tigers as he finished 11th with a time of 26:01.

The Lady Tigers were paced by Erika Van Reenen as she finished second individually with a time of 18:14 on the five kilometer course. Jennifer Meador finished fourth for Clemson with a time of 18:37. Perry Fields was fifth for the Lady Tigers as she had a time of 18:47.

The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country team will play host to the Clemson Invitational on September 30.
