Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers rowing team finished day one of the Lake Wheeler Invitational on Friday, April 21 in Raleigh, N.C. On the first of the two day Invitational, Clemson earned second place in one race, third place in three races, fourth in three races, fifth in one race, and sixth in two races.
Joining Clemson at the Invite are the following schools: Oklahoma, Boston College, Miami, Washington St, Iowa, Tennessee, Navy, Alabama, UCF, North Carolina, Georgetown, Duke, Louisville, Boston, Syracuse, Boston College, Pennsylvania, and Kansas.
Beginning with the 3v8 at 10:00 a.m, Clemson placed third in their first race with a 6:56.315 time. Next, both the 2v4 and 1v4 finished sixth with a 7:49.075 and 7:41.601 time respectively. The 2v8’s would race next which Clemson finished fourth with a 6:41.130 time. The 1v8’s would close out round one with an impressive second place finish, racing a 6:29.718 time.
In round 2, the 3v8 finished fourth (7:32.603), 2v4 finished fifth (8:11.722), 1v4 finished fourth (8:05.788), and both the 2v8 and 1v8 earned third place with a 07:06.536 and 6:56.130 time respectively.
The Tigers will continue their racing tomorrow, beginning with the 1v8 at 7:38 a.m. After the conclusion of the Lake Wheeler Invite, Clemson will look ahead to the ACC Championships on May 12-13.
