Clemson, S.C.—Clemson will play its final fall tournament this weekend at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. Kelley Hester’s team will be one of 18 teams, including eight ranked in the top 25, who will compete in the three day, 54-hole tourney at the Country Club of Landfall.
Clemson enters the final tournament of the fall having finished in the top four of two of its three events, a third place at the Schooner Fall Classic in Oklahoma and a fourth-place at the Greenville Regional Preview in Greenville, NC..
The list of teams at the Landfall includes No. 1 ranked Alabama. Other ACC teams in the field are Notre Dame, Wake Forest, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia.
Alice Hewson will be in the number-one position for Clemson. The sophomore from Great Britain has a 71.44 stroke average and has a pair of second place finishes. She has shot par or better in five of her nine rounds so far and is the No. 23 ranked player in the nation by Golfweek.
Freshman Ana Paula Valdes has a 74.11 stroke average with three rounds of even par. Marisa Messana will be in the number three position with a 75.55 average, while Sydney Legacy will be in the number-four position with a 74.78 average.
This weekend will be the final tournament for senior Sloan Shanahan. The four-year letterman, who will graduate in December, hit the first shot in Clemson women’s golf history at the 2013 Cougar Classic in Charleston. This will be her 28th career tournament No. 2 on the Clemson career list. She is Clemson’s career leader in birdies with 141. She tied her career best round at the Landfall Tradition last year when she had a three under par 69.
Senior Jessica Hoang will play the event as an individual. Live scoring will be available throughout the week on golfstat.com.
