March 5, 2001

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson baseball team went 2-1 in the three games last week and did not fall in two polls, but slipped in the coaches poll that were released Monday.

Clemson remained 14th in the Baseball America poll and 13th in the Collegiate Baseball poll, but fell from 13th to 15th in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN coaches poll.

The Tigers claimed a 7-4 home win over Furman last Wednesday and then dropped a 21-8 decision to fourth-ranked South Carolina on Saturday. The Tigers rebounded in Columbia on Sunday to hand the Gamecocks their first loss of the year, a 13-1 setback at Sarge Frye Field.

The Tigers will play three games this week at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Clemson will host the College of Charleston at 3:00 PM Wednesday before a two-game weekend series against Ohio University. The first pitch will be thrown Saturday at 2:00 PM while Sunday’s game will be played at 1:00 PM.

The game against the College of Charleston will be broadcast on WCSZ-AM (1070) in Greenville, while the two games against the Ohio Bobcats will be broadcast on WGOG-FM (96.3) in Walhalla.
