CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Athletics announced on Friday long-term and wide-ranging agreements between its affiliate brand manager, Clemson Athletic Properties Company and both Mercury and Legacy League, making each official sponsors of Clemson Athletics. The agreements include extensive marketing and sponsorship components, including placement on digital platforms, in-venue signage and other key placements. Mercury will provide a white-label custom marketplace for digital collectibles on ClemsonTigers.io, while Legacy League will create officially licensed collectibles available via the Sweet.io platform.
“We are appreciative of the innovation of these two organizations, which we felt were a great fit for Clemson,” said Director of Athletics Graham Neff. “They have been eager to develop deep content plans and high-end digital collectibles unique to the Clemson brand, and will be inclusive of our broad-based athletic program. This is just the start of what we feel will be a major opportunity for our key stakeholders, and collaborations like this can exist at Clemson because of our unique in-house model.”
Mercury’s work centers around the launch of Clemsontigers.io, a cutting-edge digital platform for Clemson fans. Clemsontigers.io will provide tailored team experiences, exclusive and officially licensed digital collectible drops, and opportunities for fans to win insider experiences with Clemson Athletics. Clemsontigers.io is planning to host athlete-led conversations, team news, discussion forums, and be the source of unique digital collectibles that unlock exclusive access and capture the spirit of the athletes, coaches, and the season’s defining moments. Clemsontigers.io will continue to develop and expand to build a deeper digital community within the official platform.
Clemson’s inaugural Legacy League NFTs will include sports memorabilia, including unique souvenir game tickets with post-game versions that will enable buyers to relive the experience of the game. Legacy League will also be debuting gamified Clemson locker rooms later this year, specially designed for fans to populate unique NFT assets for each sport.
