Clemson Athletics // “On-Field Graduation”

Commencement ceremonies at Clemson University took place May 9, but the baseball and men's tennis teams were competing in events in Indiana and Kentucky and, so, the six baseball graduates and one tennis graduate were unable to attend commencement ceremonies in Littlejohn Coliseum with the rest of their fellow graduates.

To make sure the student-athletes still got to enjoy a graduation "ceremony," Clemson University President Jim Clements was on hand at Doug Kingsmore Stadium prior to Friday night's game against Boston College. He presented diplomas to baseball players Clay Bates (health science), Matt Campbell (parks, recreation & tourism management), Joe Costigan (sociology), Mike Dunster (management), Jon McGibbon (sociology) and Steve Wilkerson (communication studies) and tennis player Dominique Maden (marketing).
