CLEMSON, SC – Three players have signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at Clemson University in the 2001-02 season as announced by Clemson Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jim Davis Tuesday.
Monica Blackmon, Lacey Shafer, Khaili Sanders are the early signees for Clemson. Blackmon is a 6-4 center from Ashbrook, High School in Gastonia, NC. She was named all-state last season and was Gaston County Player of the Year her junior season.
Lacey Shafer is from J.K. Mullen High School in Denver, Co. She has been named all-state and all-conference her sophomore and junior seasons. She was named MVP of the state tournament in 1999-2000.
Khaili Sanders plays at North Atlanta High School in Atlanta, GA. She helped lead her team to the state championships last winter.
“I thought our coaches did a great job to meet a need of post players with the graduation of Erin Batth and Nuria Forns after this season,” said Clemson Head Coach Jim Davis. “We think we have signed some very fine players that are capable of being immediate help in the post area.”
