Clemson Announces 2009 Baseball Radio Schedule & Announcers

Clemson, SC – Clemson Tiger Sports Network announced Tuesday that it will broadcast 36 regular-season baseball games, while the other 20 regular-season games will be broadcast by WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Clemson Tiger Sports Network will broadcast the 30 ACC regular-season games along with three games against South Carolina, both games against Georgia, and the Coastal Carolina game. The network will also carry all postseason contests. The other 20 regular-season games will be aired by WCCP. All Tiger baseball games can be heard via the internet at WCCPFM.com.

Clemson also released the radio announcers for Tiger baseball on Tuesday. Don Munson will be the play-by-play announcer on all 36 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts. Munson is in his sixth year calling Tiger baseball games.

Color commentator Bob Mahony, who has been a part of Clemson baseball broadcasts for the past 21 seasons, will call the road series at North Carolina (March 6-8), the home game against Georgia (April 1), the home series against Duke (April 3-5), the second road game at South Carolina (April 22), the home series against Georgia Tech (April 24-26), and the road series at N.C. State (May 14-16).

The other 22 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts will feature Dan Scott as color commentator, which includes the first road game at South Carolina (March 1), the home series against Wake Forest (March 13-15), the road series at Florida State (March 20-22), the road series at Boston College (March 27-29), the road game at Georgia (March 31), the second home game against South Carolina (April 8), the home series against Miami (FL) (April 10-12), the road series at Virginia Tech (April 17-19), the home game against Coastal Carolina (April 21), and the home series against Maryland (May 2-4).

The 20 regular-season games that will not be carried by Clemson Tiger Sports Network will be broadcast exclusively by Scott and WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Its schedule includes games against Charlotte (3), North Carolina-Wilmington (3), Elon (2), Furman (2), Michigan State (2), Western Carolina (2), College of Charleston (1), North Carolina-Asheville (1), Presbyterian (1), South Carolina (1), South Carolina-Upstate (1), and Wofford (1). Therefore, Scott will be a part of 42 broadcasts during the regular season.

Munson and Scott will team up for all of the Tigers’ postseason games on Clemson Tiger Sports Network. The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each contest and will have comments and strategies from Head Coach Jack Leggett. The games are subject to be tape-delayed based on schedule conflicts with Clemson basketball games.

The following stations will carry Tiger baseball games in 2009…WDOG (1460 AM) in the Augusta, GA area, WQSC (1340 AM) in the Charleston, SC area, WZMJ (93.1 FM) and WBCU (1460 AM) in the Columbia, SC area, WCCP (104.9 FM), WPCC (1410 AM), and WBCU (1460 AM) in the Greenville, SC area, and WHS (1270 AM) in the Savannah, GA area.
