Clemson Announces 2007 Baseball Radio Broadcast Schedule & Announcers

Feb. 8, 2007

Clemson Tiger Sports Network announced Thursday that it will broadcast 36 regular-season baseball games, while the other 20 regular-season games will be broadcast by WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Clemson Tiger Sports Network will broadcast all 30 ACC regular-season games, along with the four games against South Carolina and both games against Georgia. The network will also carry all postseason contests.

The other 20 regular-season games will be carried by WCCP. Among the games the Clemson station will carry include the season-opening series against George Mason from February 16-18. Three-game series against Pacific (February 23-25) and Memphis (March 9-11) at Doug Kingsmore Stadium will also be carried by WCCP.

Clemson also released the radio announcers for Tiger baseball on Thursday. Don Munson will be the play-by-play announcer on all 36 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts. Munson is in his fourth year calling Tiger baseball games.

Color commentator Bob Mahony, who has been a part of Clemson baseball broadcasts for the past 17 seasons, will call the home game against South Carolina on March 3, the home game against Georgia on April 4, and the road game at South Carolina on April 18 along with home ACC series against Virginia (April 20-22) and Georgia Tech (April 27-29). Mahony will also be on the air during Clemson’s three-game series at Maryland from March 23-25.

The other 24 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts will feature Dan Scott as the color commentator, which includes ACC series against Duke, Miami (FL), Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Boston College, Florida State, and N.C. State. He will also call the March 4 game at South Carolina, the April 3 game at Georgia, and the April 11 home game versus South Carolina.

The other 20 regular-season games that will not be carried by Clemson Tiger Sports Network will be broadcast exclusively by Scott and WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Its schedule includes games against George Mason (3), Memphis (3), Pacific (3), Western Carolina (2), College of Charleston (1), Coastal Carolina (1), Elon (1), Furman (1), Gardner-Webb (1), Georgia Southern (1), High Point (1), Winthrop (1), and Wofford (1). Therefore, Scott will be a part of 44 broadcasts during the regular season.

Munson and Scott will team up for all of the Tigers’ postseason games on Clemson Tiger Sports Network. The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each contest, and will have comments and strategies from Clemson Head Coach Jack Leggett. The games are subject to be tape-delayed based on schedule conflicts with Tiger basketball games.
