Clemson, SC – Clemson released its 2001-02 Swimming and Diving schedule on Thursday. This year’s schedule features four meets at McHugh Natorium including the Orange & White meet on October 12. The slate includes non-conference meets with SEC schools Florida and South Carolina and Big East schools Miami (FL) and Rutgers.
The Tigers will play host to the first four meets of the season including ACC duals with Virginia on October 27, and Florida State on November 3. The Tigers will then spend the rest of the season on the road due to renovations at Fike Recreation Center. The men and women will share the same schedule for the 2001-02 season with one exception. The women will compete in a tri-meet with Rice and Virginia on October 27, while the men will only compete against Virginia.
Other notable meets for the Tigers include the annual battle with South Carolina and the ACC Championships. The Tigers will travel to Columbia, SC to take on the Gamecocks on November 16. This year’s ACC Championships will be held at the University of Maryland. The women will compete February 21-23 and the men will compete the following weekend, February 28- March 2.
The Lady Tigers will be returning 26 letter winners from last year’s team that finished 3rd at the ACC Championships and ended the season ranked 21st in the final CSCAA poll. All four Lady Tigers who earned honorable mention All-America honors will be returning, including Elise Thieler who claimed last year’s ACC title in the 100 fly.
The men will return 20 letter winners from last year’s squad that earned a 4-2 mark in ACC competition. The Tigers will return All-ACC performer Craig Thomas and two-event ACC Champion Matt Wilson.
