Clemson And Ralph White Agree To Seperate

July 11, 2000

Clemson, SC – Clemson University officials and Ralph White announced Tuesday afternoon that by mutual agreement, White will not continue as the Clemson Head Women’s Track and Field Coach, effective immediately. White had been the Clemson head coach for the past year.

Clemson will pay White a lump-sum payment of $ 46,344.82 to fulfill Clemson’s obligation of the final year of White’s two-year contract. Athletic department revenues, not IPTAY contributions, student fees or state appropriations, will be used for the payments.

“We wish Ralph the best and appreciate his contributions to the women’s track program”, said Clemson Athletic Director Bobby Robinson. “We now focus our attention to the search and hope to have someone in place by the start of the academic year. Linda White, senior women’s administrator/associate athletic director, will chair the search.”

Ralph White was named head coach at Clemson University during the summer of 1999. Prior to becoming the head coach of the women’s program at Clemson, White was an assistant with the Clemson men’s program for two seasons. White also spent time at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, Southern Methodist, George Mason and Penn State before coming to Clemson.

“I have enjoyed my time here at Clemson and wish everyone the very best, ” said White. “I appreciate the opportunity that was provided to me throughout my stay and now look forward to moving on with my career.”
