Clemson and Florida State Will Protect Their Marks by Dispatching Enforcement Teams in Clemson, SC

Clemson, SC, & Atlanta, GA – Representatives from The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), in conjunction with local law enforcement officials, will be in search of counterfeit merchandise in Clemson, SC, on Saturday, November 3, when Clemson plays Florida State.

Clemson and Florida State have teamed efforts with CLC, their exclusive licensing representative, to prevent thousands of dollars in lost revenue due to merchandise counterfeiters. When purchasing Clemson and Florida State merchandise consumers should always look for the following characteristics to ensure the merchandise they purchase is officially licensed:

All officially licensed merchandise should display the red andblue “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” label somewhere onthe product. The merchandise should depict Clemson and FloridaState logos and marks in a tasteful manner, as the Universities donot approve distasteful designs. The tag on the garment should beintact. A torn or missing tag is evidence of a second-hand garment,one that probably would not meet the stringent quality standards inplace at the Universities. All merchandise should bear the name ofthe manufacturer somewhere on the product, either in the form of ahangtag, a neck label, or screen-printed directly on the garment.All merchandise should have the appropriate trademark designations(i.e. TM, next to a specific name or design.

Purchasing unlicensed apparel is detrimental, not only to the institution whose trademark is counterfeited, but also to consumers buying the merchandise. Unlicensed apparel is not up to par with the standards of quality provided by CLC, Clemson, and Florida State.
