Clemson and Dodge Give Away its Second Car in as Many Years

Dec. 8, 2006

DARLINGTON, SC – Liz Irwin of Anderson, SC drove home a 2007 Dodge Caliber as the winner of this year’s Dodge “Drive to a Bowl” Sweepstakes. Each season, the Carolina Dodge Dealers have sponsored the contest that allows Clemson fans to register for their chance to win a trip to the Tigers’ bowl game and a brand new Dodge.

Liz registered on the clemsontigers.com website during the season and her name was randomly chosen as the winner of a trip to see Clemson play Kentucky in Nashville. She was also given the opportunity to represent the Tigers in the Dodge give-away hosted by the Darlington Raceway. Winners from the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina, and North Carolina State University were also on hand for the drawing.

All four contestants were treated to a racing experience around the track in the Dodge official pace car. After lunch in the president’s box, the four were escorted to victory lane and each given a key. Only one of the four keys would be able to crank the Dodge Caliber. After the other three contestants tried and failed to crank the Dodge, Liz jumped in and drove her new Caliber home.

This marks the second year Dodge has sponsored this event and also the second year the Clemson fan has won the grand prize. Last year, Gerald Walsh of Windsor, SC took home a brand new Dodge Charger from Darlington. Gerald and his family were also able to follow the Tigers to Orlando and watch them defeat Colorado in the Champs Bowl courtesy of the Carolina Dodge Dealers.

Be sure to register next year for the Dodge “Drive to a Bowl” Sweepstakes for your chance to drive home a new Dodge.
