Clemson 8th at Augusta State

Clemson, SC – Clemson stands in a tie for eighth place out of 18 teams with play suspended in the second round of the Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, GA.

All 18 teams were still on the course when play was suspended. Two Clemson players had finished, while three others had one or two holes left to play.

While Clemson is in eighth place, the Tigers are just six shots out of second place in the closely bunched field. UCLA has the lead at seven-under par, while Wake Forest is second at -1. Duke is third at event, while Minnesota is fourth at +1. Host school Augusta State is tied for fifth with NC State at +2, while Georgia is seventh at +4, one shot better than Clemson. The Tigers are tied for eighth with North Florida.

Clemson is led individually by Matt Hendrix’s who stands at four-under-par through 35 holes. The senior is in third place in the individual race after an opening 72 and a four-under-par score through 17 holes in the second round. Jack Ferguson is tied for 11th after rounds of 72 and 770.

Gregg Jones had a 74 in the first round and stands at three-over par through 16 in the second round. Stephen Poole has completed two rounds with scores of 74-76. he had a triple bogey eight on the ninth hole and a double bogey 6 on the 10th hole that ruined his day. Brent Delahoussaye is at seven over par for his 34 holes of play.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with the conclusion of the second round and the 18 holes of the third round.
