The Clemson women’s track & field team wrapped up competition at the Tiger Classic on Saturday at the school’s indoor complex. Della Clark continued her outstanding senior season by improving on her personal best and capturing the weight throw title. She was one of three student-athletes from Clemson to win event titles Saturday, and one of two to post NCAA qualifying marks.

Clark had a toss of 66’7″, which was better than her previous best of 66’1.75″ earlier this season at the Clemson Invitational. Clark has now posted four NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the weight throw for Clemson. Rochelle Kokayko was third in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 56’1.75″, while Catheryne Porter finished eighth at 51’10.5″.

Ra’Sheena Parker placed fifth in the 60m final after posting a time of 7.71, while Kristine Scott was eighth at 7.74. In the 60m hurdles, Polly Hardy finished in a tie for second in the final after running a time of 8.52 seconds. Krystal Barringer was sixth with a time of 8.74.

In the 200m, Scott was runner-up with a season-best effort of 25.16 seconds. Ra’Sheena Parker (25.61) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Ashley Good (27.80) also competed in the 200m Saturday.

Thea Dix ran a personal best and captured the 400m dash title. The junior from Ellenwood, GA posted a time of 57.19 seconds, best on the Lady Tiger squad so far this season. Ope Sobanjo was sixth at 58.66. Those two collided briefly in their section, as both were fighting for inside track position heading into the second lap.

Patrice McMillan won the 800m competition after posting a season-best time of 2:15.70. Candice Johnson was fifth with a time of 2:20.40. In the mile run, Laura Laughlin posted the Lady Tigers’ top time at 5:18.43. She finished 12th out of 45 runners on Saturday. Sunday Ford was 16th overall with a time of 5:21.32. Lisa Brown was 34th with a time of 5:40.19.

Ford won her section and was seventh-fastest overall in the 3000m competition. She posted a time of 10:43.07. Lauren Klas (11:06.37) and Maggie Bernard (11:11.07) also competed in the 3000m on Saturday for the Lady Tigers.

The 4x400m relay team of Ope Sobanjo, Patrice McMillan, Polly Hardy, and Nakeisha Wineglass finished third with a time of 3:55.33.

Patricia Mamona finished runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 41’9.5″, good enough for an NCAA provisional qualifying effort. Nakeisha Wineglass was eighth after posting a mark of 38’7.25″ in that event.

In the high jump, Anni Korhonen and Linda Buchholz tied for fourth after clearing 5’4.25″. Katie Farnan (5’2.25″) also competed in the high jump.

The Lady Tigers return to action in two weeks, as the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships comes back to Clemson’s indoor facility complex.
