April 1, 2007

A pair of Clemson track & field performers posted regional-qualifying marks Saturday at two different locations, the Stanford Invitational and Western Carolina Invitational. Matt Clark finished third in his section with a regional-qualifying effort in the 5000m at Stanford, while Mitch Greeley won the pole vault with a regional-qualifying mark at Western Carolina.

Clark ran in the #2 section of the 5000m competition. He placed third and was the second-best collegiate finisher. He posted a time of 14:05.35, which was easily a personal best for the native of Hyannis, MA. He earned a pair of All-ACC accolades during indoor season.

Greeley won the pole vault competition handily Saturday. He cleared 16’6.75″, which matches the regional-qualifying standard this outdoor season. He is the school record-holder in the outdoor pole vault. Teammate Ryan Koontz cleared the same height.

Will Noble won the 1500m run at Western, ahead of teammate Sam Bryfczynski. Noble had a time of 4:00.52. George Fields captured his third straight long jump title Saturday, winning with a leap of 23’9.75″. He also won the event at the Georgia Relays and Clemson Relays.
