Chepngetich Earns ACC Freshman of the Week Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. – After earning a first-place finish in the women’s 6K at the Furman Invitational, newcomer Gladys Chepngetich has been named the ACC Female Freshman of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Chepngetich completed the event in 20 minutes and 47 seconds as the freshman stayed with the leading group throughout all four laps. The freshman took the lead in the third lap and was able to use her speed to push herself past the other leaders and be the first person to cross the line.

The Clemson women finished third overall in the 6k with help from Chepngetich’s performance.

In the two meets she has competed in, Chepngetich has secured a first and second-place finish for the Tigers as the freshman has impressed all so far this season.

Up next, Chepngetich and the Tigers will compete in Live at the Lou on September 30th in Louisville.
