Chase Hunter Named to Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

Tiger senior garners midseason consideration for National Player of the Year award.

INDIANAPOLIS – Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) was selected as one of 50 standout men’s college basketball players for the U.S. Basketball Writers Association’s 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List.

Members of the association’s board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the year. All Division I players remain eligible for the award.

The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner is to be announced at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, from April 5-7. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. A final watch list will be released in early March and those chosen will be included on the USBWA’s annual awards ballot.

Hunter has put together an extremely strong final campaign for the Tigers. He leads Clemson in scoring with 16.7 points per game, while also adding 3.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. He is the only player in the country to average at least 16.7 points, and shoot at least .470/.420/.870 from the field, three and free throw line.

Hunter was a preseason All-ACC Second Team selection and is currently tied for eighth in Clemson history in scoring (1,696).
