Charles Joins Athletic Department to Oversee Compliance

Elliott Charles has been named Clemson’s new Associate AD for Compliance, Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich announced today. Charles takes over the compliance position previously filled by Stephanie Ellison. Ellison, Natalie Honnen and Steve Duzan each received promotions to new roles within the senior administration.

Charles comes to Clemson from Florida A&M University, where he’s spent the past year and a half as Deputy Director of Athletics and was charged with assisting in the day-to-day operations of the department with an emphasis on compliance and academics.

The senior staff restructuring takes place following the departure of Dr. Loreto Jackson, who was recently named Director of Athletics at Bunker Hill Community College

“With Dr. Jackson’s departure, we were able to reorganize some senior staff roles to maximize the department’s capabilities and highlight the strengths of some of the great people we have on staff,” Radakovich said. “We’re excited to bring Elliott Charles in to the Clemson Family and know he’ll be a great fit heading our compliance office. He’s a bright young athletic administrator who will bring a lot of positives to our entire athletic department.”

Honnen, Associate AD / Student-Athlete Services and Performance, will oversee nutrition, strength, medicine, mental health responsibilities for Olympic Sports as well as student-athlete conduct and drug testing. She’ll also serve as the main point person for the development of the new softball program and continue as the men’s and women’s golf sport administrator.

Stephanie Ellison, Senior Associate AD / Senior Women’s Administrator, will serve as sport administrator for track and field, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, rowing, women’s basketball and volleyball. She’ll also serve as the department’s representative at ACC and NCAA meetings.

Steve Duzan, Senior Associate AD / Academic Development, will add responsibilities for student-athlete programming (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Tiger Leadership Academy, community service), which will be aligned with the academic services unit.
