July 28, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson golfers Jacob Burger and David Dannelly both qualified for the US Amateur on Tuesday through competition in a qualifier at the Colleton River Plantation Dye Course in Bluffton, SC.

Dannelly won medalist honors with a 142 score for the 36 holes after shooting a pair of 71s on Tuesday on the par 72 course. He was three-over-par for his first five holes in the first round, when a rain storm suspended play. He made a birdie on his first hole after the rain delay and played the last 13 holes four under par. He then duplicated the one-under par score in the afternoon.

Burger had rounds of 71-73 in shooting a 144 score. He had to qualify through a three person for two spots playoff. He made a birdie on the first playoff hole to earn his spot in the US Amateur.

Clemson players Crawford Reeves (7th at 147) and Brewer Bradshaw (11th at 148) were also in the field, but did not qualify.
