SEATTLE, WA – Two members of the Clemson men’s swimming and diving teams have been selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Seattle, WA. Senior Chris Dart and junior Eric Bruckwill represent the Tigers in the season-ending, three-day meet that will begin on Thursday, March 22.
“Chris and Eric are looking forward to representing Clemson for the final time before the program’s phase-out,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “Both are coming off ACC title swims and would like to see Clemson’s name at the national level again. It has been a mentally and physically draining season but they are focused on completing our team goals.”
Bruck will be competing in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle at the national meet. He is the ACC Champion and holds the school record in both events. Bruck swam the 50 freestyle in 19.41 seconds and posted a time of 43.11 seconds in the 100 freestyle at the conference meet. He currently ranks eighth in the country in the 50 freestyle and 19th nationally in the 100 freestyle. Last season, as a sophomore, Bruck competed in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA meet, finishing in a tie for 14th nationally.
Dart will swim in the 200 backstroke after winning the ACC title in the event with a school-record time of 1:42.98. He is currently ranked 14th in the nation in the event. Dart finished 26th in the country in the 200 backstroke at last year’s national championship meet.
The meet will include preliminary heats each day at 2 p.m. ET and finals at 10 p.m. ET. Bruck will be competing in the 50 freestyle on Thursday and the 100 freestyle on Saturday, while Dart will also compete in the 200 backstroke on Saturday.
Live results will be available through the NCAA’s official website throughout the meet. ESPN3 will be streaming the meet on both Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
