Jan. 12, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson freshman Brianna Rollins was named ACC Women’s Performer-of-the-Week for track & field on Tuesday by the conference office. Rollins, competing in just her second collegiate meet, won the 60m hurdles and 500m dash last weekend at the Clemson Invitational.

Rollins was impressive in running away with the 60m hurdles in the final Friday evening. She turned in a time of 8.25, the second-best in school history. Her time was good enough for a strong NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Rollins also won the 500m dash on Saturday. She posted a time of 1:14.47, fourth-best in Clemson history, and held off fellow newcomer Sonni Austin at the finish line. To cap the weekend, she ran second leg with Clemson’s `A’ 4x400m relay on Saturday. The group posted a season-best time of 3:47.68.
