CLEMSON, SC – Former Clemson basketball standouts Trevor Booker and James Mays will report to NBA training camps on Tuesday. Booker is set to begin his third season with the Washington Wizards, and will travel to George Mason University for training camp Oct. 2-9. Mays signed a non-guaranteed free agent contract with the Brooklyn Nets last month, and he will be in East Rutherford, NJ for training camp on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Booker started 32 of 50 games during last year’s lockout-shortened regular season. He suffered a season-ending foot injury for the second straight season, despite never missing a start in 134 games in four years for the Tigers. He averaged 8.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, which included an 18-point, 17-rebound performance in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on March 7, 2012. Booker was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2010, the same year he went No. 23 in the first round to the Wizards. Booker is third in Clemson history in rebounds and fifth in career points. His younger brother, Devin, is a senior on the 2012-13 Tiger team. Mays was voted onto Clemson’s 100th anniversary all-time team last year, and ranks among the school’s all-time top 15 in steals and blocked shots. He has spent most of his professional career overseas, but he did average nearly a double-double in the NBA Development League for the Colorado 14ers in 2008-09 before an Achilles injury set him back. Last year, he played in Turkey before appearing in two games for Oklahoma City in the NBA Summer League.
