On Saturday, April 12, Clemson’s Solid Orange Squad and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee teamed up to host the 11th Annual Be a T.I.G.E.R! Field Day event. Clemson’s campus hosted a variety of events that day, and Field Day turned out to be a huge success! Over 1,200 children registered and participated in educational activities, interacted with the student-athletes and won cool prizes!
In addition to activity stations geared towards teaching the participating youth about the five characteristics of being a T.I.G.E.R., also included were other activities and booths such as vendors, a DJ, healthy snack stations and a dunking booth. The children loved interacting with the outside guests, such as those representing Clemson’s Fire Department and EMS, Pickens County Library, Tigers for Tigers and Miracle Hill Children’s Home. The station with the biggest line, however, was the dunking booth. Children patiently waited for their turn to dunk men’s basketball players Jordan Roper and Jaron Blossomgame and men’s soccer player Wes Nelson.
Overall, the event was a great success, and the 95 student-athlete volunteers had just as much fun as the participating youth! Thank you to all who helped out and made this year’s Be a T.I.G.E.R! Field Day event an occasion for youth to learn and grow, and have fun!
