Barolak to Retire From Diving

CLEMSON, SC – Sophomore Clemson diver Katie Barolak will retire from the sport due to injuries, Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams announced on Friday. The native of The Woodlands, TX will remain with the program as a student assistant coach.

“It is disappointing that Katie will no longer dive for us,” said Hasselbach Adams. “I am excited to have her serve in the role of student assistant coach. She comes from a great high school diving program and has a lot of expertise. I am just excited to keep her a part of the team and she will be a great asset to our program.”

Barolak competed in six different meets as a freshman. Her highest finish was fourth in the platform event at the Missouri Invitational with a score of 191.65. She also finished fifth against Georgia Tech and College of Charleston last season in the three-meter event with a score of 225.45. In addition, she was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 2012-13 season.

Coming out of high school, Barolak was a two-time All-America selection at The Woodlands High School in Texas. She qualified for the USA Diving National Championships three times during her high school career.
