Clemson, S.C — Grace Barnett took first in the women’s 800 at the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday. Her performance, along with Michael Cheeks’ first place 400 finish, both rank in Clemson’s all-time top 10. Anasterasia Terrell added a third top-10 school performance in her triple jump victory.
Barnett posted a personal best 2:08.07 to win the 800. Her time ranks fifth in Clemson record books. Aaron Ramirez also took first on the men’s side, posting a season-best time of 1:50.20.
Cheeks took the men’s 400 title with a time of 46.53, a new personal-best that ranks ninth in Clemson history. Cordell Lamb followed close behind with a third place finish of 47.05, also a personal-best. Olivia James finished first on the women’s side with a time of 53.71.
Both Cheeks and Lamb also competed in the men’s 200, coming in third (21.06) and fourth (21.29) respectively. Lamb’s time is a personal-best. Dejah Parrish finished third on the women’s side with a time of 24.01.
Sabria Hadley took first in the women’s 100 dash with a time of 11.60. Samantha Elliott came in second in the 400 hurdles posting a time of 58.60. The women’s 4×400 team, composed of Parrish, Elliott, James and Tanisha Coppin came in first with a time 3:36.89.
In field events, a pair of women won the horizontal jumps. Whitney Fountain claimed the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 19-10.75 on her final attempt. It was a season-best for Fountain. Anasterasia Terrell was first in the triple jump after hitting a mark of 42-2.25. Her mark ranks ninth in the Clemson record books.
