Clemson, SC – Third baseman Jeff Baker and pitcher Steve Reba picked up more honors when they were named first team All-Atlantic Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Because they were named to the first team All-Region, both players were eligible to be selected as an ABCA All-American. Baker was named to the second team while Reba was named to the third team. Baker was also named a second team All-American at third base by The Sporting News.
Baker had one of the most productive seasons in school history from the plate as he belted 23 home runs, one short of the Clemson singles season record. The sophomore set school marks for the most home runs after two seasons (34) and most multi-homer games in a season (five) and career (seven) while driving in an ACC-best 75 RBIs. He has already been named first team All-ACC, a first team Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American by Collegiate Baseball and a second team All-American by Baseball Weekly.
Reba had a breakthrough year for the Tigers and led the ACC with a 12-3 record with a 2.58 ERA. The junior righthander allowed opponents to bat only .212 against him while striking out 103 batters. His best game of the year was a complete game, three-hit shutout against Georgia Tech, which entered the game with the nation’s best batting average. Reba has also been named first team All-ACC and a third team Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
