APR Data Released

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s 19 athletic programs each exceeded the NCAA baseline Academic Progress Rate thresholds for the 2015-16 year, according to data released by the NCAA today.

Clemson earned a school record six APR public recognition awards last week, as the baseball, men’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s golf and volleyball programs each earned recognition among programs ranked in the top 10 percent of their sport nationally in the eligibility, graduation and retention metric.

During the 2015-16 academic year, eight Tiger programs posted perfect 1000 single-year scores, and each of the 19 programs posted a multi-year rate of over 940.

“These APR achievements continue to highlight the great commitment by our coaches and academic staff to emphasize excellence both in the classroom and on the courts and fields of competition,” Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said.

ABOUT THE APR

The Academic Progress Rate is a real-time measure of eligibility and retention of student-athletes competing on every Division I sports team.

The most recent APR scores are based on a multi-year rate that averages scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. Under the revised penalty structure, the Division I Board of Directors has set a cut score of 930 (out of 1,000) as a threshold for teams to meet or face possible sanctions. An APR of 930 projects a 50 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The goal of the NCAA’s academic performance program is improvement, not punishment.
