CLEMSON, S.C. — An accomplished event administrator the past seven years at both LSU and the University of Oklahoma, Jon Allen has been named Assistant Athletic Director of Event Management at Clemson. Allen takes over the position from longtime administrator Van Hilderbrand, who retired in May. Hilderbrand will continue to serve as a consultant for Clemson Athletics in the fall.
Allen spent the past three years as an Assistant Director of Game & Event Management at LSU. He managed men’s basketball, gymnastics and women’s soccer events, while also serving as the visiting team coordinator for LSU’s nationally-prominent football program. He was the liaison for several external groups, and also assisted in the hiring, training and scheduling of more than 500 event staff employees.
Prior to his most recent stint at LSU, Allen was the Assistant Director of Event Operations in Norman, Okla., from 2009-12. He served as the department liaison to all outsourced event staff groups, while also serving as event manager for the Sooners’ baseball, women’s soccer, track & field, rowing and wrestling programs.
Allen, first an intern and full-time assistant with LSU’s game & event management staff from 2008-09, earned his bachelor’s degree from the school in 2005. He earned a master’s degree in sport management from Florida in 2008.
