CLEMSON, SC – Clemson hurdler Spencer Adams was named ACC Indoor Co-Performer-of-the-Week for men’s track & field and sprinter Marlena Wesh was the women’s ACC Indoor Performer-of-the-Week in women’s track & field, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Adams was co-recipient of the weekly honor along with thrower Marcel Lomnicky of Virginia Tech. Adams duplicated his personal best time by clocking a 7.68 in the 60-meter hurdles final over the weekend at the New Balance Invitational. He finished runner-up to national leader Jarret Eaton of Syracuse, and in fact, ranks second nationally in terms of his 7.68 to Eaton. This is Adams’ second honor of the 2011-12 season, as he previously collected the award on Jan. 24 following the Auburn Invitational.
Wesh won the honor for the first time in her Clemson career. A junior from Virginia Beach, VA, she cruised to victory in the 400-meter dash championship at the New Balance Invitational with a school-record time of 52.21. Her time ranks No. 1 across the nation as well. She then anchored the school’s 4×400-meter relay to a gold medal and propelled the Tiger women’s team to victory at the prestigious indoor meet.
