Adams, Rollins Lead Tiger Track & Field Action Friday

Friday Tiger Paw Invitational Results | Friday Tyson Invitational Results

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson had track & field athletes competing across three different venues Friday and Tiger hurdlers Spencer Adams and Brianna Rollins highlighted the action with automatic NCAA qualifying efforts at the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas. Both had the top times of their respective 60-meter hurdle semifinals.

Adams matched his personal best for the third time this season. The red-shirt junior clocked a meet-leading time of 7.68 in the semifinals to qualify for Saturday’s final. Also on the men’s side, Charlton Rolle was 12th in the semifinals with a time of 8.04. On the women’s side, Rollins had the top time in the semifinals at 7.98 and moves on to the final tomorrow as well. It was her third NCAA auto qualification of the season in the high hurdles. She will be joined in Saturday’s final by freshman Keni Harrison, whose best time Friday was 8.28 in the prelims.

Justin Murdock claimed fifth place in the men’s 60-meter dash Friday. The senior out of Pasadena, MD was consistent with a 6.72 in both the semifinal and final. His best time on the season has been 6.68 on two occasions.

In the men’s long jump, freshman C.J. Davidson placed ninth in his first-ever trip to the Tyson meet. He connected on a leap of 23 feet even.

Clemson had just two student-athletes in action Friday at the Husky Classic in Seattle. Ty McCormack had a good night in the men’s 5000 meters. The red-shirt freshman from Gainesville, GA had an official time of 14:15.54, good enough for eighth all-time in the Clemson record books. Kim Ruck was 19th out of 78 runners in the women’s 5K. The graduate student from Greer, SC posted a time of 16:43.02.

At the Tiger Paw Invitational, Clemson played host to its largest meet of the indoor season, as schools from all over the Southeast came to compete. Clemson competed a handful of student-athletes on day one, most notably Brittney Waller in the women’s weight throw. The junior out of Greenville, SC was runner-up with a mark of 63’2″/19.25m. Marcus Brown was seventh in the men’s weight throw, hitting a season-best 56’1″/17.11m.

Also at the Tiger Paw meet, Clemson had several athletes in the distance events. James Dwyer was runner-up in the 5K with a time of 15:13.29. Martin Maloney was third place in the men’s mile, as he had a finishing time of 4:13.84. In the women’s mile, transfer Cara Talty took home fifth-place honors with a time of 5:02.80.

The Tigers return to action Saturday to close out all three meets.
