Women’s Basketball (@ClemsonWBB)Last Friday, the Clemson women’s basketball team participated in Rock the John, where Kelly Gramlich’s lights-out shooting in the two-ball competition headlined the Lady Tigers’ performances. Audra Smith, Nikki Dixon, and Quinyotta Pettaway will travel to Greensboro on Wednesday for ACC Media Day. The Tigers open up play with an exhibition game on Oct. 29 in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Cross Country (@CUTrackandField)The men’s and women’s teams were in action over the weekend at the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. Led by Roland Hakes’ sixth-place individual showing, the Tiger men took third place in the white division 8K on Saturday. The women’s team finished in 19th place. The teams return to action in two weeks at the ACC Cross Country Championships in Kernersville, N.C.
Diving (@ClemsonDiving)The women’s team held an exhibtion at McHugh Natatorium last Friday and officially kick off their season Saturday, when they host Georgia Southern and Richmond at 1:00 p.m.
Football (@ClemsonFB)Record: 6-1, 4-1 ACCFifth ranked Florida State defeated third ranked Clemson 51-14 at Death Valley on October 19 in the first battle of top five teams played in the state of South Carolina. The Seminoles victory ended Clemson’s seven game winning streak overall and its 11-game winning streak in conference play.
Florida State jumped ahead 17-0 in the first quarter and never looked back as the Tigers committed four turnovers, the same amount the first team offense had committed over the first six games.
Clemson will attempt to get back on the winning track at Maryland October 26. It will be Clemson’s final trip to face Maryland in a conference game as the Terps move to the Big Ten next year.
Clemson has won six consecutive games away from home, and a seventh straight would be the longest road winning streak for the Clemson program since the 1978-79 era.
Men’s Golf (@ClemsonMensGolf)The Clemson men’s golf team concluded its fall season with a 15th place finish at the US Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta. The tournament included five of the top 10 teams in the nation in a truly national field. Clemson will conclude the fall having played one of the top three schedules in the nation according to the Sagarin Computer.
Stephen Behr led Clemson with a 219 score for the 54 holes, three over par. He finished 34th overall. Miller Capps was the second best Tiger with a 224 score, while Cody Proveaux finished with a one under par 71, the top score by a Clemson golfer at the event.
Women’s Golf (@ClemsonWGolf)Clemson’s women’s team will return to action for the first time in three weeks for the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., where it will face some of the top teams in the nation. It will be Clemson’s last tournament of the fall.
Clemson is led by Ashlan Ramsey, who is ranked as the fifth best player in the nation according to Sagarin. She has won her last two events, including the Ruth Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Sloan Shanahan is ranked as the 26th best player in the nation by Sagarin and has been Clemson’s second best player all year.
Rowing (@ClemsonRowing)The women’s rowing team competed at the Head of the Charles claiming two top-11 finishes. The Varsity 4+ squad finished second while the Varsity 8+ finished 11th in their respective races. The results tied for the best finishes by a Clemson boat in those races at the regatta since 2008. This was final regatta of the fall season for the Tigers, who will kick off their spring season on March 1 against Eastern Michigan.
Men’s Soccer (@ClemsonMensSoc)Record: 9-3-2, 4-2-2 ACCThe men’s soccer team split a pair of matches last week, dropping a non-conference match on Tuesday to No. 17 Furman before claiming a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh at home on Friday night. Alex Stockinger and Thomas McNamara both scored goals in leading the ninth-ranked Tigers over the Panthers.
The Tigers have two matches this week, again facing a non-conference foe on Tuesday – at Charlotte – and returning home for a conference contest against Boston College on Friday.
Thomas McNamara leads the team in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.
Women’s Soccer (@ClemsonWSoccer)Record: 7-5-4, 4-4-2 ACCThe Clemson women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie vs. Duke on Thursday and fell to 19th-ranked Wake Forest 1-0 on Sunday at Historic Riggs Field. Freshman goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan made six saves in the two games and now has 53 saves for the season, along with a .815 save percentage. Entering Sunday’s game, Sheridan was ranked second among ACC goalkeepers in save percentage. The Tigers have a difficult week ahead, as they will face #4 North Carolina on the road on Thursday and #9 Notre Dame at Historic Riggs Field on Sunday. Sunday’s game will be the Tigers’ final regular season home game, and the team’s seven seniors will be honored prior to the game.
Men’s Tennis (@ClemsonMensTenn)The duo of Hunter Harrington and Dominique Maden advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Carolinas Regional at Cary, N.C. last weekend, while Harrington advanced to the round of 16 singles.
The men’s team will close out individual competition for the fall at this week’s USTA Futures Tournament in Birmingham.
Women’s Tennis (@ClemsonWTennis)The women’s tennis team was the only school in the ITA Carolina Region Championships to place two singles players in the quarterfinals as Yana Koroleva and Beatrice Gumulya each advance before being knocked out. Gumulya and Jessy Rompies will compete in the doubles semifinals on Monday morning and if they win, will play on Monday afternoon for the regional title.
Volleyball (@ClemsonVB)Record: 10-9, 4-4 ACCThe volleyball team split a pair of matches against Wake Forest and #24 Duke this weekend. In the match against Wake Forest, the Tigers came back from a 2-0 deficit to win for the first time since 2009. Mo Simmons tied her career-high with 25 kills and continues to lead the ACC in both kills and points per set. Clemson will play at Boston College and Syracuse this Weekend.
