Meet 8: No. 14 Clemson vs. Pitt

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 14 Clemson will take on Pittsburgh (1-8, 0-5 ACC, NQS 195.130) for Military Appreciation Day on Friday at 7 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum in a purple out. The meet will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and the ESPN App. 

The Tigers (3-4, 2-2 ACC, 196.555 NQS) are rounding into form, tallying three of the program’s five highest scores in the past three meets, all of which were 196.850 and above. Clemson posted its highest road score in program history (196.850) on Sunday at Pittsburgh in a dual meet win, and the Tigers have the chance to continue the momentum Friday.

Clemson and Pitt have participated against one another seven times, and the Tigers have outscored the Panthers in each of the seven head-to-head meetings.

STEADY CLIMB

  • In its first season under Co-Head Coaches Justin Howell and Liz Crandall-Howell, Clemson has already taken big strides.
  • Three of Clemson’s five best team scores ever have come in the past three meets.
  • Clemson has moved up to 14th in scoring average (196.532), it’s highest rank in the program’s history.
  • Clemson’s 21-spot jump on bars from 2025 is the biggest jump nationally and its 0.209-point improvement (48.995 > 49.204) is second-best nationally
  • Clemson’s 20-spot jump on beam from 2025 is second-best nationally and its 0.166-point improvement is fourth-best nationally
  • In 2026, 112 of 168 (66.7%) of routines have been a 9.800 or above
  • Clemson has surpassed 196.500 four times in 2026 in seven meets after doing so five times in its first 25 meets.
  • Through seven meets, Clemson has its highest average score (196.555), ranking (14) and total team score of any season (197.025)

COMPETING WITH THE BEST

  • Five of Clemson’s seven meets so far have come against ranked opponents.
  • So far in 2026, Clemson has competed against No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Stanford, No. 12 UNC, No. 20 Cal and No. 21 NC State.

SO FAR, SO GOOD

  • Brie Clark has won floor in each of her seven appearances in 2026 and has won beam in two road meets. She has 19 career floor and five beam event wins at Clemson
  • Clark ranks third in the nation in floor with a 9.925 average. She has a 9.900 or higher in all seven meets this season.
  • Ella Cesario became the first Tiger to compete in the all-around since 2024 when she earned a 39.275 against Stanford. Cesario’s 9.925 on beam was her best performance of a 39.475 all-around (3rd best in school history) at Pitt on Feb. 15.
  • Tara Walsh has competed in 21 events in 2026, with 15 of those scored a 9.850 or higher, including 9.875s on floor and beam and a 9.9 on vault. She has five vault titles in 2026
  • Emma Malewski earned her first event title with a 9.900 on bars at Pitt
  • Lilly Lippeatt has 14 routines of 9.800 or higher in 2026, including a 9.900 on bars and a 9.900 on beam.

CLEMSON LOVES GYMNASTICS

  • Clemson is ranked 8th in the nation in 2026 with 7,324 fans per meet. Through Week 6, Clemson’s 29,297 fans are 4th in the nation in total attendance.
  • Clemson welcomed its 100,000th fan in just its 15th-ever meet (1/30 vs UNC).
  • Clemson has ranked in the top ten in attendance nationally in each of its first two seasons in Littlejohn Coliseum with 41,843 fans in 2025 (8,368 per meet – 8th nationally); 42,542 fans in 2024 (8,508 per meet – 8th nationally)
